Back in November it was announced that Fargo and Legion creator Noah Hawley will write and direct the fourth Star Trek film for Paramount. Now the director has revealed some details about the Star Trek movie reboot.
When first announced back in 2016, it was expected that the “Kelvin Timeline” Enterprise crew will all return for the new film. Now Hawley has hinted that the film may include a completely new cast.
Hollywood Reporter recently asked the filmmaker if the Star Trek reboot will feature a new cast. Hawley replied, “Yeah, I think so.”
“It’s early days,” he added. “I don’t know. But new characters often involve new cast.”
The director also told Deadline that he has his own take on Star Trek and going back to what he loved about the series Next Generation. He also added that he will be respectful to the underlying material.
Paramount planned to bring back Chris Hemsworth to the role of George Kirk and Chris Pine as Captain James T. Kirk. However, it was revealed in 2018 that the studio and both couldn’t reach an agreement.
Star Trek 4 still has no release date yet.
