The Rising of the Shield Hero anime gets season 2.

Crunchyroll revealed during Crunchyroll Expo that the television anime series based on Aneko Yusagi's The Rising of The Shield Hero light novel will receive a second season. In addition, the streaming service also unveiled the anime season 2 new poster, however, did not state the new season release date.



The new poster which you can see below show's Naofumi Iwatani, Filo, Raphtalia, Melty Q. Melromarc, and Rishia Ivyred, looking over a city on the mountain. The only one missing in the visual is Melty Q. Melromarc. Rishia joined Iwatani party after she was left behind by Itsuki in the final episode of season 1. Its not confirmed if the cast from the first season will return for the second season of the anime series.

Yusagi originally published The Rising of the Shield Hero "Tate no Yūsha no Nariagari" light novel as a web novel in Shōsetsuka ni Narō novel site, before being adapted into a manga series by Aiya Kyū at Media Factory with illustrations by Seira Minami.

The The Rising of The Shield Hero anime series first season aired on January 9 for 25 episodes. Kinema Citrus produced the show's animation and Takao Abo (Norn9) served the director. Keigo Koyanagi composed the anime series and Masahiro Suwa designed the characters based on Seira Minami's original character designs. Crunchyroll co-produced the show with Kadokawa.

Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
