New reports suggest that Miss America, real name America Chavez, will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. According to a new casting call spotted by The Illuminerdi, Miss America will apparently appear in the movie as Doctor Strange’s sidekick. Marvel Studio is allegedly looking for a Hispanic teenage girl who will serve as a sidekick of sorts to the Sorcerer Supreme.
In the comics, Miss America is from a Utopian Parallel, a reality that is out of time and in the presence of the being known as the Demiurge. Like Doctor Strange, Chavez has the ability to travel between dimensions. Which makes perfect sense considering Doctor Strange 2 will explore the Multiverse. Disney+ is also rumored to be developing a series based on Miss America.
Created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta, Miss America made her first appearance in Vengeance #1 released in September 2011. She inherited her superpowers after absorbing the Demiurge’s ambient magical presence. She is the second Miss America, after Madeline Joyce.
Doctor Strange 2 is scheduled to start filming in 2021. Parts of the movie will be set in the 80s. Marvel Studio still looking for new a director following the departure of Scott Derrickson.
