Last year there were reports that Marvel Studio was planning to introduce the Fantastic Four and the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney acquired the character right after their acquisition of Fox. The studio was allegedly eyeing a 2022 release date for the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot with ‘Ant-Man’ director Peyton Reed already in talks with Kevin Feige.
Roger Wardell, the man known for releasing some of the MCU scoops, has revealed that the Marvel Cinematic Unversion of the Fantastic Four and X-Men will be primarily based on their Earth-1610 counterparts better known as the Ultimate Universe. Marvel is reportedly in talks with John Krasinski and Giancarlo Esposito to portray the leading roles.
Earth-1610 or Ultimate Marvel re-imagined and modernized versions of characters from the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Those characters include Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Ultimates (Ultimate Marvel Universe Avengers), the Fantastic Four and many others.
